Position Summary:
The Hog Farm Worker is responsible for the daily care and management of pigs to ensure their health, welfare, and productivity. This role involves hands-on animal husbandry, maintaining clean facilities, and supporting overall farm operations. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable, and experienced or willing to work with livestock.
Key Responsibilities:
Feed, water, and monitor the health and behavior of hogs.
Clean and maintain pens, barns, and feeding areas to ensure hygienic conditions.
Assist with breeding, farrowing, and weaning operations as needed.
Monitor animals for signs of illness or injury and report concerns to supervisors.
Administer medications, vaccines, or supplements under supervision.
Maintain accurate records of feeding, health checks, and production.
Operate and maintain farm equipment and tools safely.
Follow all farm safety, sanitation, and bio-security procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience with livestock, particularly hogs, is an asset.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
Attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Conditions:
Outdoor and indoor work in a farm environment.
Physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
